Bisphenol A (BPA) is a chemical building block used for the production of
epoxy resins and durable polycarbonate. Bisphenol A (BPA) is synthesized by
condensation of acetone with phenol. Hydrochloric acid can be used as a
catalyst.
The use of pure monomer Bisphenol A (BPA) without presence of impurities
will result in a polycarbonate with consistent properties.

The highly automated continuous suspension based melt crystallization
process applied for Bisphenol A (BPA) will ensure low energy consumption at low
operator attention. Crystallization of BPA adduct (BPA + phenol) allows for
lower temperature operation and can improve the energy efficiency of the
process while still maintaining high purity BPA production. Crystallization is
a proven industrial purification technique and GEA Messo PT has been
active in its application on a variety of products for over 30 years. Bisphenol
A (BPA) purification is one of the new feasible applications.
