GEA Messo PT has combined successfully its extensive evaporation and
crystallization know-how with new research, to develop and establish innovative
process solutions in the field of straight fertilizers. Messo-designed
installations manufacture such compounds through new processing routes, such as
recycling of by-products from waste management facilities, or by improving
time-tested ones, as the reactive crystallization of granular ammonium sulphate
from spent sulphuric acid and ammonia.
Besides granular production of
ammonium sulphate, of newer methods of production of potassium chloride and
potassium nitrate from ores, and the crystallization of ammonium sulphate and
ammonium chloride from inductrial byproducts, GEA Messo PT has strong
background in several niche activities. Messo crystallizers produce biuret-free
urea, recover potassium sulphate (by metathesis) from sodium sulphate
solutions, and more recently, combine the scrubbing of urea prilling tower
exhaust gases with integrated recovery of ammonium sulphate-urea fertilizer
mixtures.
GEA Messo PT plants, producing industrial-grade-quality
straight fertilizers are found around the globe, from the Atacama desert of
Chile to the European sylvinite and carnallite mines, and from the Dead Sea in
the near East to caprolactam and methylmetacrylate facilities in Asia and North
America.
